This time , We would like to introduce ” Aizuwakamatu area” .
“Aizuwakamatsu” is an area centered on Aizuwakamatsu City in Fukushima Prefecture. Aizu lacquerware, a traditional craft, is famous, and there are many places related to the history of Japan in the tourist attractions. Among them, the symbol is the “Tsuruga castle” that features a red tiled roof. Tsuruga castle is a historical building that represents Aizuwakamatsu with a history of over 600 years. The inside is now a museum and you can tour. There are also “Aizu Bukeyashiki” and the “Aizuhanko Nisshinkan”, where you can learn about the life and education of the times when samurai were there. Aizu Bukeyashiki is a restored house of Samurai lived in Aizu, and the site area is about 7,500 square meters. Inside is a wax doll that reproduces the life of that time, and you can experience the middle Edo period (1603-1868) just by walking around.
The temple that represents Aizuwakamatsu is “Enzo-ji”. Enzo-ji Temple has a history of 1200 years. And in the New Year’s Festival, famous for its unique culture, called “Nanokadou Hadaka Mairi”, which attracts tourists from all over Japan.
Aizuwakamatsu also has a hot spring resort called “Aizu Higashiyama Onsen”. Just west of Inawashiro-ko Lake. It is an elegant hot-spring resort with lush greenery and traditional town.
In addition, Aizuwakamatsu is also famous for sake, and there is a sake storehouse founded in 1850 called “Suehiro shuzo Kaeilura”. There are four sake breweries and 3 floors wooden house built around 1870, which you can visit for free.
Aizuwakamatu area is about 3 and half hours away from Narita by driving.
